On the morning of May 18, the Guangyanggu City Forest Park in Xicheng District of Beijing was covered with sunshine and melodious songs of birds. Under the guidance of teachers, a group of children from 30 families conducted an exploratory tour toward a four-season and child-friendly natural experience project.

The activity was held by Xicheng Women's Federation under the support of Beijing International Design Week Co., Ltd. It was designed to guide local students to embrace and explore nature through experience, foster their scientific interest and pragmatic capabilities, comprehensively increase the district's education on nature and science, and promote the building of a child-friendly city.

Wang Xiaoqian, President of Xicheng Women's Federation, said in her speech at the opening ceremony that the federation will adhere to the children-first development approaches, make consistent efforts in the further enhancement of public services for children, the protection of their lawful rights and interests, and help them grow in an inclusive environment full of love and support.

Ma Zhong, S Executive Vice-President of Xicheng Association for Science and Technology, announced the opening of the activity. Zeng Zanqing, Manager of Beijing Jicheng Intelligent-Manufacturing Technology Group, and Wang Xiaohui, Director of Xicheng Services Center for Students' Comprehensive Activities, also addressed the opening ceremony.

At the very beginning of the gathering, teachers of natural sciences talked with children about basic knowledge of plants and natural observatory methods, helping them grasp a better understanding of scientific research. Afterwards, teenage attendees toured   the city forest park to learn more about local plants in terms of their traits, characteristics, growth environment and functions in the ecological environment. Attending students made note of their findings in the exploratory tour, laying a solid foundation for their future studies of natural sciences.

Prior to the conclusion of the event, the students engaged in an in-depth observation of the leaves of surrounding plants, wrote down what they had found, and exhibited their final products in an atmosphere filled with positive interactions and comments.

The activity earned praise and recognition from attending families. A parent said that such an event created valuable opportunities for children to embrace nature and further enhance their natural science competence, hoping to attend more similar gathering in the future.

The activity was an exploratory measure taken by Xicheng Women's Federation to promote the building of Beijing into a child-friendly city. Relevant activities have further enriched the extracurricular life of local kids.

In the years ahead, the federation will deliver more tangible benefits to local residential communities and families, convene children's education activities with different themes, and make unique contributions to the building of a child-friendly city.
