An exhibition on the Capital's Most Beautiful Families and the 13th Chaoyang Family Cultural Festival are held in Beijing's Chaoyang District.

Chaoyang, a demonstration district for Beijing's building of a garden city, has been working on cultivating unique landscapes with gardens. An exhibition on Capital’s Most Beautiful Families and the 13th Chaoyang Family Cultural Festival recently opened at the Friendship Plaza (Yansha Shopping Mall) of Liangma area under the theme of "striving for new achievements on the new journey and promoting the realization of both national and personal dream with concerted efforts." A collection of settings for garden-like balconies were on display in a special zone to provide the public with inspiration in the renovation of their own balconies, allow participants to get free flower seeds through a quiz activity, and help them find happiness from the plantation of flowers and other greenery and gain more sense of fulfillment from living in Chaoyang.

The event had an opening ceremony and exhibition activity. At the opening ceremony, a group of primary school students presented a dance show which underscored the vitality of youths and their determination to protect the environment. In their thematic speeches, representatives of the Capital's Most Beautiful Families talked about their inspiring family stories, the keen affection for the country, the fulfillment of social responsibilities, and the development of traditional family values. Dressed in specially designed clothing with a theme of environmental protection, Chinese and international families did some fashion modeling to show their support for the building of a garden city and promoting environmentally-friendly lifestyle. Attending officials distributed flowers and certificates to representatives of Chaoyang's most beautiful families.

The exhibition activity focused on the introduction of exemplary families' stories, allowing them to engage in closer interactions. The section of beautiful families highlighted the work of the selection and appraisal of the most beautiful families in the past decade, family values of selected families, traditional culture and family traditions, and invited attendees to write down their family values as well as traditions. At the section of loving families, attending families from Chaoyang engaged teenage students with physical and mental disabilities from Horqin Left Wing Rear Banner in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The families from Chaoyang would help disadvantaged children from Inner Mongolia realize their wishes. Other activities included experiences of massage of Traditional Chinese Medicine for children, first aid lessons, drawing a sketch for parents and sorting trashes, making traditional handicrafts such as paper-cutting and embroidery. The activities were aimed at helping attendees improve parent-children relations.

To further promote the inspirational stories of most beautiful families, Chaoyang Women's Federation will provide special plates for the families to hang on the doors of their houses and it has asked role-model families to get 10 families around them motivated in leading a green and low-carbon life, raising their children in a scientific manner, spending more time with kids, carrying forward family values, building harmonious relations with their neighbors, engaging in civilized social practices and volunteer services, and serving the district's development. These measures are aimed at encouraging more families to take part in grassroots social governance and the building of Chaoyang into a demonstration place suitable for living, working, business, study and travel.

Chaoyang Women's Federation will continuously press ahead with the work on family building, and organize a wide range of activities for International Day of Families, the National Publicity Week of Family Education, and the Capital Publicity Month of Family Education to bring more families to participate in public affairs.

The first approach is to adopt innovative measures to promote positive family values. The federation will respond to the proposals on carrying forward family values and sharing family stories, establish district-level lecture teams of the most beautiful families and make the stories of fine family values known in residential communities, government departments, enterprises, campuses and the cyber space through exhibitions, story-sharing and mini-lectures.

The second is to continually carry out family education-themed activities. The federation will follow the proposals of raising children in a scientific manner and spending more time with them in their growth, and organizing most beautiful families to visit community-level parenting schools. The families will take the lead in the studies and publicity of the Law on Family Education Promotion, and share their experience and feelings of family education. The federation is also expected to further strengthen institutional building of volunteer teams for family education, get teachers, retirees, social workers and enthusiasts fully involved in volunteer teams, convene training events for them to support the operation of community-level parenting schools, improve the building of demonstration parenting schools, provide systematic courses and regular service activities to explore new community-level family education guidance services.

The third is to conduct green-oriented family activities. The federation will respond to the proposals on leading a low-carbon and green lifestyle, invite most beautiful families to take part in various activities such as trash sorting, balcony renovation and energy saving in celebration of the World Earth Day and the implementation of other relevant campaigns. The federation will guide the public to make their balconies greener, and enhance the sense of fulfillment brought by the observation of green lifestyles.

The fourth is to organize the building of civilized families. The federation will respond to the proposals on building harmonious neighborhood relations and taking the lead in the observation of civilized practices, and getting local families fully motivated in the participation of community-level social governance.

The fifth is to carry out family-oriented volunteer activities. The federation will respond to the proposals on leveraging the functions of each family in serving the entire district, and make full use of the strength of each role-model family in the organization of community-level volunteer services, the promotion of the district's development, and the building of the district into a suitable place for living, working, business, study and travel.

The exhibition event was jointly launched by Beijing Women's Federation, Chaoyang Women's Federation and other municipal and district departments.
