To help the demonstration bases for rural women's innovation and entrepreneurship better address difficulties confronted with them, and improve their management, the women's federation of Mentougou District and Tanzhesi Town jointly held an activity of spreading scientific knowledge and skills to rural people in the Yisui Farm, in Tanzhesi
The activity drew the attendance of officials from Mentougou Women's Federation and the government of Tanzhesi, presidents of village-level women's federations and agricultural technicians.
The Yisui Farm is an integral part of efforts taken by Tanzhesi Women's Federation to carry out a post-disaster reconstruction plan enacted last year for achieving long-term sustainable development. It is also intended to motivate women military retirees to launch personal business ventures in their hometowns, and better serve local women in their career development. The implementation of the farm project has provided rural women nearby with employment opportunities. During the activity, managerial personnel from the Yisui Farm gave an introduction to its basic conditions and held talks with visiting experts as well as volunteers about the high mortality rate of fruit trees and difficulties encountered with them.
Fu Fang, a volunteer and an agricultural engineer of fruit plantation from Mentougou Sci-tech Research & Development Base, convened a technical training over the plantation of fruit trees, the prevention and control of pests for the farm's workers. She has been dedicated to the plantation of fruit trees and the cultivation of new fruit tree species, successfully fostered nearly 50 high-quality species for the district, and won a district-level craftsmanship title. Fu said that she will make full use of her professional knowledge and resources available to provide support to women and make unique contributions to the implementation of rural revitalization strategy.
Kou Hongyan, a volunteer and president of Beijing Yinongyuan Eco-Agri Professional Cooperative, delivered a lecture. Kou has firmly adhered to the principles of serving farmers wholeheartedly in multiple aspects, led other women in the cooperative to embark on a journey of shaking off poverty and becoming prosperous, received a number of state- and municipal-level honorary titles, and showed the positive image of women in the promotion of rural revitalization.
Officials from the government of Tanzhesi expressed thanks to Mentougou Women's Federation for its organization of the activity and hoped that there would be more such activities for local residents. Meanwhile, the town-level women's federation said that it will strengthen publicity efforts, visit rural women, learn more about their development needs, do pragmatic and good things for them, engage in rural revitalization, and fully polish the brand of advancing rural revitalization through science and technology.
Representatives of Mentougou Women's Federation conveyed thanks to attending volunteers and experts for their collaboration, mutual assistance and selfless contribution. The building of demonstration bases for women's innovation and entrepreneurship is a direct and effective measure to assist rural women in their entrepreneurship and employment and provide them with multiple services. In the next step, the federation will expand the scope of its volunteer service, take full advantage of local talents and resources, forge new momentum for the implementation of Women's Action for Rural Revitalization campaign, provide assistance to business women, lead and unite women across the district to make higher contributions and show their positive image in the post-disaster reconstruction and the green and high-quality transformation of the economic and social development.
