The first session of the 15th leadership of Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) was held on Monday to thoroughly study and implement the guiding principles of the important speech by General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Xi Jinping and the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, study and convey the guiding principles of the enlarged meeting of the standing committee of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), and conduct research about implementation measures. Zhang Yajun, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and President of the BWF, chaired and addressed the session. All vice-presidents of the BWF attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Zhu Wenjiao, Chi Shuyan, Dong Le and Miao Xiaohong, all of whom are part-time vice-presidents of the BWF, shared with attendees about how to study the guiding principles of the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and promote the high-quality development of the work of women's federations. The meeting announced the work division for members of the 15th BWF leadership and director-general-level officials, deliberated and endorsed work norms of the 15th BWF leadership, and held discussions over the work norms of the 15th BWF standing and executive committees.

It is an important political task for the BWF to study and implement the guiding principles of the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee now and in the future, Zhang said. She added that the leadership of the BWF should take the lead and set an example in the study and implementation of the guiding principles of the session, grasp an all-round, deep and systematic understanding of the principles and give full play to their guiding roles. They should organize study and publicity work to get women around them fully motivated. They should also adhere to the Party's overall leadership in the entire process of the reform of women's federations, forge great momentum from further advancing the reform towards the high-quality development of the work of women's federations, unite and lead women from all social sectors in making new contributions to ushering in the new phase of the capital city's comprehensive reform.

Zhang noted that BWF's leadership should earnestly fulfill their obligations and make full use of their leading roles. Firstly, they should increase their awareness of identity, bolster political stance, firmly hold the political nature of women's cause and the political functions of women's federations, continually improve the capacity for political judgment, thinking, and implementation, fully leverage strength of their own institutions and their professional knowledge, voice their proposals in the implementation of the major tasks of the BWF, combine their duties with the guidance and services of women, show caring and guidance to the work of BWF's departments that they are responsible, step up research and guidance and push for the realization of relevant objectives. Secondly, they should better perform their duties, equip themselves with political theories, steer the high-quality development of women's affairs, hone personal competence, strengthen their capacity building in political guidance, serving the overall work, safeguarding the lawful rights and interests of women, and advancing reform as well as innovation, and strive to be versatile talents in the work on women from all fronts. Thirdly, they should intensify their overall coordination and systematic mindset, step up coordination and partnership, enhance capabilities in leadership and pushing for the long-term development of relevant causes, keep positive mood and take pioneering work norms to promote the implementation of specific tasks.

Those present at the meeting included director-general-level officials and heads of functional and affiliated departments of the BWF.
