Representatives from nine service bases discussed the roles played by women sci-tech workers, science-popularization brand building, the research and development of cultural creative products and science-popularization courses, and the production of science popularization-oriented plays. They said the service bases have played positive roles in further enhancing the public's sci-tech literacy and supporting the capital city in the building of a major international sci-tech innovation hub, adding that they looked forward to engaging in the exchanges and discussions over different themes, better making use of women's strengths and improving relevant work.

Li Jing, Executive Vice-President of the BWAST, presided over the symposium. She said the association will continuously strengthen institutional building for the development of women-oriented science dissemination service bases, encourage relevant service bases to host the symposiums on a rotating basis, push for the cooperation and exchanges between the bases over the organization of diverse activities for children and teenagers during summer holidays.

Tan Hong, Vice-President of the Beijing Women's Federation (BWF), attended and addressed the symposium. She spoke highly of the work done by the service bases and asked them to thoroughly study and implement the guiding principles of the third plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, focus on key points in their work, and give full play to their strengths in the realization of specific objectives and tasks outlined at the 15th Beijing Municipal Women's Congress. Tan came up with a three-point proposal for relevant service bases. Firstly, they shall carry forward the spirit of scientists, and lead more women sci-tech workers to devote themselves to sci-tech innovation, dare to ascend the peak of science and technology, and make unique contributions to the dissemination of scientific knowledge and the commercialization of research results. Secondly, they shall organize various types of science-popularization activities for children during summer holidays, and stimulate the enthusiasm of children and their families toward science and the exploration of the unknown world, laying a solid foundation for the cultivation of sci-tech talents. Thirdly, they shall continuously deepen exchanges and collaboration, share experience and gains, integrate resources, and pool strengths for the enhancement of the quality and level of science-popularization work.
