The traditional folk festival – Lantern Festival of the year of horse met with romantic Valentine’s Day. A wonderful fellowship activity was held in the multi-functional hall of Beijing Women and Children Social Service Center in the afternoon of February 15, 2014. More than 120 excellent single youths from public security system, procuratorate system and various enterprises and public institutions in Beijing attended the activity. Marriage and Family Consultant Service Center of Beijing Women’s Federation built “the bridge of magpies” for the youths and spent a special Valentine’s Day with them.

Decorated with lanterns, streamers and colored balls on the wall, the multi-functional hall was bursting with happiness. The big “Fu” (Chinese character) paper-cut, lively “Happy Horse” and unique lantern riddles embodied the delight and harmony of Lantern Festival. All single friends present would receive an exquisite massage card, on which they could write down their personal introduction and contact information for interacting with their ideal partners. They could exchange the cards if they have feelings on each other. The design inspiration of exchanging massage cards came from the tradition of sending handkerchiefs between lovers in ancient time. 

All single friends not only felt the warmth of Chinese traditional festivals, but also got close to their ideal partners through interaction. Mr. Wang, one of the members, said happily, “Such an activity makes us feel warm. A new year will start from here. We are looking forward to more such activities.”

Five pairs of youths found their ideal partners in the activity and 80% of the youths left their contact number to the partner, bringing off the activity.
