The First Lecture of “Women, Family and Society” in the New Year: Inherit the Chinese Culture and Find the Beauty of Chinese Characters

The foreign friends learned to say “Happy New year”in Chinese.
In the afternoon on Jan. 4, 2014, in multi-function hall of Beijing Women and Children Service Center, with an excellent Guqin Music, Flowing Water, washing the heart of each audience either domestic or overseas, Xie Feidong, author of Reading Chinese Characters, and Nie Hui presented the configuration secret, phonological features of Chinese characters and deep cultural connotation contained in them by the form of Guqin play, Chinese characters parsing, and painting and calligraphy appreciating, and led the audiences to a way of finding the beauty of Chinese characters, and enjoying the charm of Chinese traditional culture.
More than one hundred guests, including those from embassy of Egypt in China, Russian Cultural Centre in Beijing, China-Arab Women Summit and etc., overseas students in Beijing, and those from all sectors of society, listened to the lecture and discussed with the lecturer on the meaning and learning method of Chinese characters.
Mr. Xie Feidong and Ms. Nie Hui, members of Chinese Guqin Art Association and Chinese Poets' Association, have always been studying on ancient writing, have obtained great attainments on Chinese studies, calligraphy, Guqin, poetry and etc., and were invited to hold solo exhibitions and Guqin concerts in Malaysia, Macao and etc. During the painting and calligraphy exhibition, “Growth of the Chinese Characters”, the exquisite calligraphies and paintings were unanimously praised by audiences either domestic or overseas.
This activity is one of the “Women, Family and Society” lecture series of Beijing Women's Federation, held by the propaganda department of Beijing Women’s Federation and Beijing Women’s International Center. As a brand activity for capital citizens learning, the “Women, Family and Society” lecture aims to prompt harmony and happiness of women, families and society. In 2013, approximate one thousand lectures were held in Beijing, which attracted about 70,000 people.
