In the afternoon on Apr. 21, in the First Maternity and Infant Hospital in Dongcheng District, Beijing Women’s Federation cordially received Delegation of Women's Committee of Republican Party of Armenia head by Na Ge Da Liang, the vice president of National Assembly of Armenia, and president of Women's Committee of Republican Party of Armenia which was established since 2001, serving women and governed by Republican Party of Armenia, focusing on gender equality in politics, economics, and society. This is the first contact between women’s organizations since establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The delegation aims to learn Chinese women’s organization construction and development, and to strengthen exchange and cooperation between both sides with respect to gender equality and women’s development.
The delegation was greatly attracted by old Beijing architectural style when entering the hospital. Luan Qiuyan, director of the hospital, introduced history and mission of the hospital which was established since 1929 by Yang Chongrui, director of Women and Children Division under Ministry of Health, being the first midwifery education school and affiliated maternity hospital. At the front of Dr. Yang Chongrui’s statue, the delegation carefully listened to and was deeply moved by life stories of Yang Chongrui and his noble spirit of “sacrificing himself to benefit others”. Accompanied by director of the hospital, the delegation visited fetal monitor room, cornerstone of life, sunlight room and maternity ward etc., and was deeply impressed by good facilities and warm environment of the hospital. Later, the delegation discussed with medical workers of the hospital on the way of pre-pregnancy physical examination, neonatal screening, and two-cancer screening etc.

Na Ge Da Liang, leader of the delegation said that it’s a pleasure to visit the first maternity and infant hospital at basic level of China, and it’s valuable to learn the overall and advanced medical and health services containing humanistic care in the hospital. After visit, the leader wrote down their wish “Chinese women and children to be healthy and happy” with ancient Armenian.
Responsible person of International Women Exchange Center of Beijing introduced overall condition of the work for women and children in Beijing, and presented the wish to give full play to Beijing Women’s Federation to extensively develop exchange and cooperation between women of the two countries, to promote friendship and understanding, and to prompt development of work for women and children.
