Beijing Women’s Federation Received the American Women’s Delegation Attending the Sixth China-America Woman Leader Conversation Exchange Meeting

Visit the Beijing maternal and Child Health Hospital
         In the afternoon on Jul. 11, 2014, Beijing Women’s Federation cordially received American woman delegation headed by Tina Tchen, the executive director of Council on Women and Girls of White House, Assistant to the President of America, Staff Director for First Lady of America. Members of the delegation come from woman’s  organization under American government, United States Department of Health and Human Services, local government of Washington DC, National Women's Law Center and etc.
         During the visit, the delegation is to attend the China-America Consultation on People-to-People Exchange and the Sixth China-America Woman Leader Conversation Exchange Meeting where both meeting and field visit focus two topics, “Women and Health” and “Fight against Violence to Women”. This visit is the first formal contact between the Council on Women and Girls of White House and the women’s organization of China, which lays a solid foundation for further extending and deepening the relationship and understanding between women leaders of China and America, and prompting and strengthening the exchange and cooperation between China and America, with respect to women's and children's health and rights & interests defense.
 

         The delegation first visited Maternal & Child Health Hospital of Beijing. During the visit, Chang Hongyan, the vice chairman of Beijing Women’s Federation, and Guo Jiyong, the member of Health and Family Planning and Commission of Beijing, made a general introduction on maternal and child health work of Beijing. Intense communication and discussion was made between the delegation and the experts of the hospital, regarding the antenatal examination, the subsidy for low-income group subject to two-cancer screening and other issues. The delegation also visited neonatal intensive care unit, infant & mom care unit and gynecology ward, and exchanged opinions with medical staff and pregnant and lying-in woman.
         Later, the delegation drove to the Collegiate Bench for Right Defense of Women and Children in Wangsiying, Chaoyang District, to visit juvenile tribunal, law sunlight workroom and women’s right defense exhibition room, and to listen to brief on assistance for juveniles, and women’s and children’s right defense work etc. Chang Hongyan, the vice chairman of Beijing Women’s Federation highlighted the way by which Beijing Women’s Federation prompts defending from origin, socialized right defense and practicalized right defense, and gives full play to “Womem’s Home” and “Sister’s Station”; also, by full and accurate cases, Chang Hongyan presented the way by which female lawyers care juveniles, settle family disputes together with Beijing Women's Federation.
         Many delegation members with rich legal occupation experience spoke highly of the humanistic care concept from sunlight workroom, and the care to community provided female lawyers, and shared their experience on risk assessment for prompting anti-domestic violence in American communities. Chang Hongyan, the vice chairman of Beijing Women’s Federation said that American have developed many good practices on women and children protection and maternal and health care, and thus more extensive and in-depth exchange and cooperation are desired between China and America, regarding women’s and children’s health, women’s right defense, and family construction etc.
