Discussed with Female Presidents of Universities about How to Work Together to Cultivate Women's Leadership
         On September 6, the Sixth “World Female University Presidents Forum” witnessed a grand opening in Great Hall of the People. All-China Women‘s Federation, leaders of Ministry of Education concerned, along with more than two hundred female university presidents from fifty four countries and regions of five continents, attended this forum. Shen Yueyue, Chairman of All-China Women‘s Federation, set a high value in opening speech on the forum topic “Women· Education·Leadership”. She pointed out that education was a basic approach and important condition to empower women and improve women‘s leadership. Governments, universities, social organizations and civilian forces were expected to work together to guarantee women sufficient education, develop and improve women‘s leadership and endeavor to seek greater, faster and newer development for women with a new start. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director of United Nations Women and Irina Gueorguieva Bokova, Secretary-General of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization both sent their congratulations by video.
 
 

         In the three-day forum, participants discussed topics including cultivation and innovation of women leadership, leadership promotion of women and female university presidents, mutual learning and cooperation between social organizations in women leadership cultivation in various forms such as sub-forum, round-table conference, symposium and salon. Zhou Zhijun, Vice Chairman of Beijing Women‘s Federation, was invited gave a speech in sub-forum “Mutual Learning and Cooperation Between Social Organizations in Women Leadership Cultivation” on behalf of women social organization.
         Zhou Zhijun gave basic introduction to Beijing Women‘s Federation, focusing on typical cases and key practices in women leadership cultivation. She said that Beijing Women‘s Federation should play a role in “federating”, and should provide a variety of training classes to improve women leadership in accordance with the requirements of women at different levels and to promote the interaction between different women and children resources including governments, enterprises, society, universities and media in order to offer higher and wider platform for excellent women leaders’ growth. In addition, the Federation should highlight its role in organization. Specifically, it should provide regular training for directors of women and children service organizations, organize regular meetings to guide and assist them to strive for government purchasing of public services, and help organization leaders to realize smooth and sustainable development according to practical guidance and support. Zhou Zhijun specially took Beijing Association of Women Kindergarten Principals as example to specify how Beijing Women‘s Federation helped the association give women principals comprehensive quality training and professional ability training, and established cooperation and resource sharing platform. At the same time, the Federation hoped to further strengthened cooperation with universities through programs such as “Bring Women Talents into University” and by such means as connecting more successful women and social resources with university teachers and students, combing the resources integration advantages of women‘s federations with intellectual resources advantages of universities, and giving opportunity to more excellent women to stand out and promoting women’s full development. The presidents of universities present at the meeting agreed with the experience and practice of Beijing Women‘s Federation, shared respective understanding and reached a consensus on strengthening cooperation between universities and social organizations.
         “World Female University Presidents Forum” was launched by Communication University of China, aiming to gather women presidents’ power in the world to establish an international platform for communication and wisdom sharing. The forum has been successfully held for five times since 2001. More than 800 women presidents from 79 countries in the world had attended the forum. It has become a women dominated brand forum with world wide influence.
