         In the golden autumn of 2014, the Capital Family International Cultural Promotion Campaign, in close connection with the China Open, the 798 International Children Art Festival and other large internationalized events, presented a grand gala of sporting, art etc cultural exchanges for Chinese and foreign families in the capital, aiming to better serve the capital’s households, promote family harmony and cultural exchanges, and create the atmosphere of being an internationalized livable capital.
         The China Open tennis tournament, as a global influential major brand tennis event of the capital, draws tens of thousands of families in the capital to watch games annually. During the China Open event period from September 27th to October 5th, 2014, the Beijing Women’s International Exchange Center, together with the China Open organizing committee, jointly produced the “Hello, My World, My Home! – The 2014 China Open Children’s Happiness Festival” activity, aiming to provide a guidance for children and families to discover and feel the world from their own perspective on the platform of large international events, and create international cultural exchange opportunities for children and families while fostering children’s competence in public presentation and news broadcasting. The campaign specially invited teenagers of different countries to serve as young anchors, and delivered the news of China Open events, anecdotes of tennis stars, sports cultures of different countries, and other interesting information to China Open audiences through the interviews and broadcasting of their unique perspectives. This campaign was supported by or from institutions or activities such as the China Open organizing committee, the first China Open star challenge contest etc, and had an extensive social influence; the number of direct participants exceeded one thousand.
         In addition to the activity of young anchors, the Beijing Women’s International Exchange Center, together with the 798 International Children Art Festival organizing committee and other institutions, jointly held the first “798 International Children Art Festival”, and carried out multiple artistic exchanges such as children’s art studio, children’s artwork exhibition, sharing session, creativity market, concert, children’s drama performance, theme opening day etc, with the theme of “Major World Issues”, during the National Day golden week. The center specially established the “Beijing Smart Lady Traditional Art Studio” and the “Italian Artists’ Creativity Studio” at this art festival. Members of Beijing Smart Lady, representative of Beijing’s craftswomen, patiently taught teenagers old Beijing’s traditional crafts/skills such as paper cutting, the Chinese knotting, kite painting, dough figurine making etc, to lead children to experience traditional Chinese culture; on the other side, Italian artist Silvia Bonanni led children to give full play to their own creativity, and make beautiful pets and lovely “Pinocchio” by use of worn socks, waste cartons etc, to closely feel modern art and create a beautiful life. Various wonderful artistic activities drew a lot of attention from various circles of society, and 3,000 to 4,000 teenagers (some with their families) came to scene to take part in activities every day. On October 7, the art festival also held the “Little Auctioneer Chastity Auction” activity for excellent paintings of children, and donated all the proceeds from the auction to the “Beijing Woman and Child Development Foundation – Funds for Supporting the Growth of Sanitation Workers’ Children”. 
         The successful holding of the capital’s family international cultural promotion campaign not only allowed numerous Chinese and foreign families in the capital to have an unforgettable vacation, but also opened a window for them to broaden their view and know international cultures. In the future, the capital’s family international cultural promotion campaign will still carry on building a diverse and inclusive, harmonious and friendly internationalized atmosphere for the capital, with a close eye kept on the theme of women, children and families, and by carrying out more rich and colorful activities.
