On the afternoon of January 26, the Sino-US Preschool Educational Exchange Seminar sponsored by Beijing Association of Women Kindergarten Principals was successfully held at Beijing Women International Center under the common guidance and support of the Family and Children Department of Beijing Women’s Federation and Beijing Women International Center. The activity aimed at introducing international advanced preschool education training resources, enlarging the international visual angle of women kindergarten principals and teachers and assisting them to enhance the level of professionalism. In the activity, Ren Chunzhu, an expert of the U.S. Child Development Associate (CDA) program, and Zhao Jing, a woman entrepreneur who had worked and lived the America for years and actively promoted the exchange of Chinese and American women, were specially invited to give a lecture. Over thirteen representatives from Beijing Association of Women Kindergarten Principals attended the exchange activity.
Ms. Ren Chunzhu introduced the five basic ideas of the preschool education in the U.S. and the major characteristics of the U.S. Child Development Associate (CDA) program. The program has been officially introduced to China and is now cooperating with relevant domestic preschool education institutions in developing Chinesized curriculum, providing system training contents for domestic preschool education institutions centering on setting curriculum for infants, character development guidance of infants, communication between preschool teachers and parents, etc., providing opportunities for preschool teachers to go to America for training, etc. The attending kindergarten principals and teachers communicated with Ms. Ren on their interested curriculum based on their actual situation.
Ms. Zhao Jing, who had 20 years of experience in Sino-US business, education and cultural exchange, shared her parenting experience with “a combination of Chinese and Western elements” in the U.S. on site based on her personal experience. She used vivid examples to narrate her various puzzles and solutions in bringing up three children, and particularly pointed out that “children have their own pace of growth and what parents have to do is mainly accompanying instead of interference. In the process of accompanying, children will become more independent and responsible and parents will also become happier”. Her sincere narration won the recognition and warm applause of the audiences.
Later, guests attending the meeting were engaged in a heated discussion on platform construction, e.g. training of newly appointed kindergarten teachers, family education training, etc. and the way to carry out preschool education in a more targeted and effective way based on their practical experiences.
In the future, Beijing Women’s Federation will continue to innovate the form of activities, build international resources exchange platforms to better serve the extensive women groups, e.g. Beijing Association of Women Kindergarten Principals, etc.
