Beijing Women’s Federation Held “International Vision and Women’s Development” Seminar

On April 25, the “International Vision and Women’s Development” seminar co-sponsored by Beijing Women’s International Center and Women Leadership Academy (WLA) was held in the lecture hall of Beijing Foreign Studies University Library. More than sixty persons, including trainees from Session 3 of Dandelion Women Leadership Development Public Training Program, representatives from women’s social organizations and women’s committee of different parties, attended the seminar.
Guo Ruixiang, the Chinese National Project Officer from UN Women probed into the problems around “promotion of gender equality and women's empowerment”. Starting with social gender, she introduced a series of important conventions and declarations issued by the UN to promote gender equality and compared and analyzed different indicators from the perspective of global women development. In particular, she introduced the “HeForShe” campaign (Solidarity Movement for Gender Equality) launched by UN Women globally last year.
Lin Bin, the Deputy Director of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Beijing Branch and Gui Fan, the Vice President of Beijing International Chinese College, together with the leaders of Liaison Department of Beijing Women’s Federation and Beijing Women’s International Center, shared such topics as how to broaden women’s international vision, women’s development, etc. with the audience from the perspective of economic and trade contact, external communication of women’s organizations, etc.
