On the morning of July 27, Beijing Women's Federation received friendly visit of Mrs. Gertrude Mongella, secretary-general of the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women, and two assistants in Huairou District.
Mrs. Mongella is a famous educator, politician, diplomat and social activist in Tanzania. As an active advocate and participant of women's movement, Mrs. Mongella was secretary-general of the UN Fourth World Conference on Women in 1995, and founded the non-governmental organization "For the African Women" in 1996 and served as the chairwoman. Mrs. Mongella is to learn more about development progress of Chinese women's career over the 20 years, and deepen the communication and contact with the Chinese women's organizations through this visit.
Zhou Zhijun, vice chairwoman of Beijing Women's Federation, extended a warm welcome to the delegation led by Mrs. Mongella on behalf of Beijing Women's Federation, and accompanied Mrs. Mongella on the visit to the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women Huairou Memorial Park. Zhou Zhijun explained to Mrs. Mongella that 2015 is to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the World Conference on Women in 1995, and Beijing Women's Federation also held many diversified commemorative activities such as forums, exhibitions, performances, etc., to provide important help for development of women's career together. During the visit in Huairou District, the delegation led by Mrs. Mongella also visited Smart Lady Art Studio - Gaolianghe Painted Ceramic and Porcelain Factory.
Zhao Hongju, deputy director-general of International Department of All-China Women's Federation, deputy secretary of Huairou District, Xiao Youmao, secretary of Huairou District Politics and Law Committee, Wang Baoqin, then-chairwoman of Women's Federation of Huairou District, director of Women's Federation of Huairou District, director of Beijing Women's International Center, etc. also accompanied in the visit.
