Led by Zimbabwe's First Lady Mrs. Grace Mugabe
On the morning of October 22, Beijing Women's Federation received a delegation of 18 members led by Zimbabwe's First Lady Mrs. Grace Mugabe, at Huairou District.
Mrs. Grace Mugabe is the female leader of The Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (Zanu-PF) and general secretary of Zanu-PF women's league, and also the director of Zimbabwe Child Survival & Development Foundation and Danike School for Orphans and the Disabled. She has been devoting herself to promoting the cause for Zimbabwean children and disabled people. She studied in China for four years, as the first overseas first-lady learning Chinese in China.
Chang Hongyan, vice chairwoman of Beijing Women's Federation, extended a warm welcome to the delegation led by Mrs. Grace Mugabe on behalf of Beijing Women's Federation, and accompanied her to the site of the 4th World Conference on Women and APEC site. They reviewed the development and progress in women's career of their respective countries since the 1995 Fourth World Conference on Women.
Later, the delegation came to Beijing Smart Lady Art Studio---Teng-style Tianxin Cloth-paste Painting Studio, and was given detailed introduction by Teng Tianxin, inheritor of Teng-style cloth-paste painting and a member of the Beijing smart lady, about the history, craftsmanship and materials of such painting. Mrs. Grace Mugabe praised Beijing Women's Federation for their achievements in supporting women's entrepreneurship and employment. Chang Hongyan expressed a wish to maintain a long-standing and broader relationship with Zimbabwean women's organizations and promote the development of women's career of both countries by strengthening exchanges, improving friendship and pragmatic cooperation.
Zhao Hongju, deputy director-general of International Department of All-China Women's Federation, Zhou Dongjin, member of the Standing Committee and director of Huairou District, leaders of Women's Federation of Huairou District and of Beijing Women's International Center, etc. also accompanied in the visit.
