Officials from Beijing Women’s Federation (BWF) received a delegation of eight visitors lead by Sia Nyama Koroma, First Lady of Sierra Leone, on January 8 at the Women and Children’s Social Service Center of Haidian District in Beijing.
 
Koroma visited China at the invitation of the ACWF. The visit was to for the delegation to learn from China's development experience; further deepen friendly and cooperative relations between women of the two countries; and, continuously deepen the friendship and cooperation between Sierra Leone and China.
 
Cai Shumin, president of BWF, extended her warm welcome to Koroma. She introduced the mission and the main functions of BWF, and accompanied the delegation on a tour of the Center. The delegates looked at public service projects provided by the center including those focused on family education, skills training and cultural entertainment.
 
In the skills training room, Cai put on a bracelet symbolizing a long and healthy life for the first lady. Officials from the women’s federation of Haidian district presented a hand-woven "concentric knot" to the guests, which reminded Koroma of a memorable moment from 10 years ago, together with BWF, when she finished an special "concentric knot" made by children from China and Sierra Leone on the eve of the Olympic Games.
 
Koroma commended BWF for its outstanding facilities and services for women and children, and expressed hope to have the opportunity to organize Sierra Leonean women to study and take part in exchanges in Beijing in the future.
 
Cai expressed hope that through the visit, BWF and Sierra Leonean could strengthen interactive cooperation in the area of women and children; bring together the wisdom and strength of women in both countries to keep working hand-in-hand as sisters; and, promote the development of women and children.
 
Lu Yamin, deputy director-general of the Liaison Department of the All-China Women’s Federation (ACWF); Zhao Haiying, vice-president of BWF; as well as the officials of West Asia and Africa Division of ACWF, the Liaison Department of BWF, Beijing Women International Center, the women’s federation of Haidian District and the Women and Children’s Social Service Center of Haidian district accompanied the visitors during the gathering
