BWF Signs Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Tokyo Japan-China Friendship Association

To mark the 45th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan in 2017, the cities of Beijing and Tokyo have both been actively engaged in friendly interaction and exchanges.

Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) and Tokyo Japan-China Friendship Association (TJCFA) signed a Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement on November 2 after a number of discussions and negotiations.

Meanwhile, officials have established a strategic partnership to reach a consensus on cooperation to promote children and women’s development, cultural exchange, vocational skills training and other areas.

TJCFA is a NGO focusing on developing friendship between China and Japan, and deepening the mutual understanding between people in Tokyo and Beijing — as well as countrywide. They also aim to safeguard peace in the Asia-Pacific region and across the world.

With the support of the Beijing People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, BWF and TJCFA established the strategic partnership on the theme of “Long-term Base, Friendly Mutual Trust, Complementary Advantages, Common Development”.

The agreement is expected to help to promote sustainable, substantive exchanges and cooperation between women and women's organizations in the two countries, as well as enhance mutual understanding and improve feelings between the two peoples.

Cai Shumin, president of BWF, said the profound cultural origins of China and Japan have laid a good foundation for cooperation between the women in two countries. In recent years, the contents of such exchanges have been enriched and exchange fields have been expanded between Beijing and Tokyo.

Cai said that through the signing of the agreement, both sides will be able to establish a long-term mechanism for cooperation, and provide an international exchange platform and high quality resources for the common development of women in the two countries. The contract will help deepen mutual trust and cooperation between the two nations through communication and exchange among women.

Utsunomiya Tokuichiro, head of TJCFA, also said the agreement signed with BWF brought the friendly relations between the two capitals even closer. He looks forward to taking the opportunity of the 45th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations to open a new chapter between the two countries in the terms of women, children, families and other areas.

Beijing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Beijing Foreign Affairs Office and other institutions have strongly supported the cooperation and exchange activity.

Next, BWF will closely interact with TJCFA, to promote further substantive communication between Beijing and Tokyo.
