Beijing Women’s Federation Receives Delegates from E Europe Nations

Officials from Beijing Women’s Federation (BWF) received a delegation of 19 visitors attending the Seminar for Female Officials from Eastern European Countries on August 30 at the premises of Leping Agriculture Group.
Members of the delegation came from ruling government parties and women's organizations in Albania, Belarus, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine.
Zhao Haiying, vice-president of BWF, extended her greetings to the members of the delegation, and accompanied them on a tour.
The delegation visited China's first and only Watermelon Museum, to fully understand the characteristics and culture of Panggezhuang, a local town known for producing the green and red fruit.
Later, the group arrived at the site of Leping Agriculture Group, visited the company's industrial vegetable production base, the Agricultural Products Exhibition Center and the Belt and Road Cultural Expo Park.
During talks, Zhao introduced the development status of the federation and women in Beijing. She also highlighted the federation’s positive effects and achievements on promoting women's participation in decision-making management; encouraging women's entrepreneurship and employment; and, protecting women's rights in education.
Zhao also spoke about safeguarding the rights and interests of women through the four levels of women's organizations and linkage of government-related departments.
Feng Leping, head of Leping Agriculture Group, introduced her entrepreneurial experience, with particular focus on how the group grew from simply growing and selling watermelons.
She explained how the firm established farmer-specialized cooperatives, and finally went on to form a large agriculture group consisting of industrial management, scientific research and development, cold chain storage, and science education.
Meanwhile, she also shared her experiences of growing up as a common farm girl to gaining the glory of National March 8th Red-Banner Award and National Model Worker title.
Delegates from six countries each said they were impressed by the visit, and they would learn from the experience of BWF on its women and children's services, and the measures of supporting women on entrepreneurship and employment.
They delegates also expressed their wish to build further contact with BWF, and enhance communication and cooperation, as well as make real cooperation on projects and technology with Leping Agriculture Group
The Officials of the Liaison Department of the All-China Women’s Federation; the International Department of the Central Committee of CPC; Beijing Women International Center; the Women’s Federation of Daxing District; the Foreign Affairs Office of the government of Daxing District in Beijing; and, related departments of the government of Panggezhuang Town accompanied the visitors during the gathering
