Beijing Women's Federation Receives Delegates from Korean Women's Association


Tour Women and Children’s Social Service Center in the capital's Haidian District
 

Officials from Beijing Women’s Federation (BWF) received a delegation of 26 visitors from Korean Women's Association on May 26 at the Women and Children’s Social Service Center in the capital's Haidian District.
 
The delegation was lead by Cho Taeim, head of the association. The association was founded in 1949 as a self-help group advocating improvements in women's social status, as well as encouraging women's participation in economic activities, environmental protection and consumer movements, among other initiatives.
 
Zhao Lijun, vice-president of BWF, extended her greetings to the delegation, and accompanied them on a tour of the center.
 
Meanwhile, Zhao Lijun introduced the development status of Beijing women and children, and the main work of the federation. Afterward, she expressed hope that the two organizations could strengthen communication and cooperation, and deepen their friendship in terms of mutual interaction.
 
Cho Taeim introduced the historical background and organizational structure of the association as well as the work carried out by the association. She noted that branch offices were set up for Chinese women who worked in the Republic of Korea (ROK), and expressed hope that women's organizations in two countries could better carry out exchange and cooperation in the future.
 
Wang, Shuixia, president of Beijing Women's Association for International Exchange, and Kim Jongim, head of the Seoul branch of the association, signed a cooperation agreement. Both sides indicated that they would strengthen exchange and contact between Beijing and Seoul, as friendly sister cities, and conduct extensive pragmatic cooperation in the future.
 
The heads of China Service Center for Friendship and Cooperation with Foreign Countries; Beijing Women International Center; and, Haidian Women’s Federation accompanied the visitors during the gathering.
