Beijing Hosts 12th Female Entrepreneurship Salon Session

Beijing Women's International Exchange Center (BWIEC) hosted the latest event in its series of female entrepreneurship salons at the Rainbow Book Bar on November 8 in the capital.

At the 12th Session of the Beauty of Entrepreneurship: Female Entrepreneurship Salon Series Activities, the main guest speaker was Dr Jennifer Jing Zhao, an international education expert from University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada.

Zhao connected with dozens of female entrepreneurs at the event, including those from Beijing Women's Association for Foreign Exchange (BWAFX), Beijing Association of Women Entrepreneurs (BAWE), and other groups, on topics such as how to meet customer requirements and exploring new models in leaner times.

Furthermore, Zhao introduced several ideas about being an entrepreneur, quoting in particular the work of Steve Blank, a contemporary "innovation master" and entrepreneur mentor in Silicon Valley.

An Lijuan, secretary-general of BAWE, led a number of women entrepreneurs in capital to participate in the activity.

During the discussions, Zhang Yinghui, from the field of engineering consulting; Ouyang Zhaomin, an expert in the area of modern green agriculture; and, Zhang Fengying, who works in the petrochemical industry, shared their thinking about startups, expansion and dedication to society.

Wang Haiying, founder of Beijing Zhongxiang Gardening Culture Development Co, a local demonstration base for foreign exchange, shared insights about her participation in a recent training course, the China-Korea Floriculture Skills Innovation Project.

The course, promoted by Beijing Women’s Federation, was aimed at introducing foreign technology and talent to locals. Wang said her entrepreneurial skills have been enhanced by attending such professional training with international quality resources in the past.
