Improvements in Chinese Women's Status Are Inseparable from Work of Women's Federations
To mark March 8International Women's Dayand strengthen cultural exchanges between women in China and other countries, the latest special program was launched on the occasion by Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) and Beijing Women's International Center.
International female guests who currently work, live or are studying in Beijing were invited to join GePeng and Wang Yuangge, hosts at CRI News Radio, where they shared their perspectives on the improvement of women's status in China over the past 70 years since the founding of the PRC. They also offered their insights into women's groups and organizations and showcased their expectations for the future.
LinaGetachewAyenew, from Ethiopia, is executive director of the company For Ethiopian Education. She shared her experience of personal growth with the show.
Rhea See, from the Philippines, is co-founder of the world's largest women's tech entrepreneurship competition, She Loves Technology. She chose to travel from afar to Beijing for her business start-up, as she thinks highly of the city's open and inclusive environment, which is favorable for women's development in the tech and innovation sectors.
Elisabeth Arnero, from the fashion capital of Italy, has developed an interest in fashion since her childhood and displays a great love for Chinese culture. She went to Beijing seven years ago and has settled with her family and dedicated herself to promoting Italian fashion concepts in China.
On the topic of Chinese women, the three ladies all said that local women are capable and hard-working, and spare no efforts in achieving their aspirations. Speaking about their views of women's groups in China including BWF, the guests said they thought the roles of women's federations should not be underestimated.
Since the founding of PRC70 years ago, the actual improvement of women's status in China is inseparable from the positive roles played by women's federations.
Meanwhile, a Special Program Featuring International Women's Day from Foreigners' Viewpoint was held respectively from March 7-8 on China Media Group . The results of the program was distributed at the same time on the app CRI News Plus and via CRI News on the app Himalaya, as well as on Foreigners' Viewpoint and CRI News on Dragonfly FM, covering listeners that added up to well over 40 million.
In the future, BWF will work to integrate the abundant international resources in the capital, set up multimedia communication platforms, facilitate cultural exchanges between women in China and other countries, and showcase the achievements made in terms of the development of women's causes in the capital.
